Washington State University, Intensive American Language Center
The Intensive American Language Center (IALC), a part of International Programs at Washington State University, provides high quality, intensive instruction in English as a Second Language. Founded in 1984, our program offers five eight-week sessions per calendar year. There are 6 levels of language instruction, and students receive 21-24 hours of instruction per week. Our curriculum has an academic focus based on the core classes of Reading/Composition, Listening/Speaking and Grammar. Students also choose Special Interest classes based on academic and cultural interests.
The IALC has a close relationship with Washington State University. WSU recognizes the completion of Level 5 in lieu of TOEFL for undergraduate admissions; most departments at WSU recognize completion of Level 6 at the IALC in lieu of TOEFL for graduate admissions. (Please note that WSU also considers an applicant's previous academic record as part of the admissions process).
With a truly, international student body, a highly qualified teaching staff, and the latest in modern teaching methods and materials, the IALC offers an outstanding opportunity to students who wish to pursue a rigorous course of studies. Teachers at the IALC hold advanced degrees in Teaching English as a Second Language, and bring diverse training and experience to our classes. We also have a friendly, helpful office staff.
